12-25-2011 The Kingdom: Prince of Peace
With unlimited power, control and authority, the Evil Chancellor Palpatine of Star Wars fame didn’t give peace. It was demanded and enforced – with an iron fist of evil. This isn’t just stuff of sci-fi movies, either. In contrast to the Kingdom of God, this kind of rule is a potential reality in kingdoms wherever they exit. Has there really ever been peace on earth in the sense we think of it at Christmas? Join Pastor Mike as he explores Isaiah 9:6 and the truth about the King of kings as Prince of Peace.

12-18-2011 The Kingdom: Everlasting Father
Most people would agree… governments today look a lot more like the game of “Mousetrap” than they do “Checkers!” Instead of being a simple organization, governments tend to make things more complex. The Kingdom of God however stands in stark contrast to earthly kingdoms. Join Pastor Mike as he explores Isaiah 9:6 and the truth about the King of kings as our Everlasting Father.

12-11-2011 The Kingdom: Mighty God
As a kid, I loved the TV show, “Get Smart” – probably due to how funny it made the evil empire called Kaos look! That funny caricature reminds me of governments, today, both good and evil. The Bible talks about the Kingdom of God and how different it is. We study another name for Jesus today from Isaiah 9:6 and learn just how “un-Kaotic” it is!

12-4-2011 The Kingdom: Wonderful Counselor
Whenever I hear the chorus, “For unto a a child is born…” from Handel’s Messiah, I get goose-bumps! How about you? And due to his music, Isaiah 9:6 might just be the most familiar prophecy about Jesus in the last 300 years. We hear it, see depictions of it on wrapping paper and christmas ornaments, and use it to add festivity to the holidays. But have we really thought about the truth this passage teaches about the King of kings and His Kingdom? The description of the Messiah in this passage will tell us what kind of Kingdom it really is – so we can celebrate truthfully this Christmas season!

11-27-2011 The Hustler and the Dreamer
The story of Jacob hasn’t really been about him. It’s been about God’s determination to give us a blessing. Jacob tried unsuccessfully to pry the blessing out of God’s hand. And for his efforts, he only really hurt himself and those around him. Is there another way? Yes, the life of his son, Joseph, is critical to the story of the blessing. Join Pastor Mike as we compare the Hustler and the Dreamer and what the end of the story looks like for you and me.
